Yom HaShoah Program

Yom HaShoah, also known as Holocaust Remembrance Day, occurs on the 27th of Nisan and is a memorial day for those who died in the Shoah. The word shoah, Hebrew for "catastrophe" or "utter destruction," refers to the mass killings and other atrocities that were committed against the Jewish people during World War II. This year's program theme, "Emigrants in a New Country," reminds us of Habonim's founding members who escaped from Germany just in time, some of whom are still with us today.  They all had to adjust to a new language and culture.
