FEBRUARY 9 – “FINDING YOUR JEWISH ROOTS”
Have you ever wondered about your ancestors? No need to go to a website to get information. Lauren Orenstein from the Jewish Genealogical Society will discuss her work delving into one’s own genealogy. Light lunch will be served. 1:00 – 3:00 PM.
MARCH 6 – SHABBAT DINNER: SPEAKER, DR. LORI WEINTROB
Dr. Lori Weintrob is a dynamic speaker and Professor of Holocaust studies at Wagner College. She founded the Holocaust Center along with the Chai Society at Wagner College as a means to help generations understand the importance of this integral part of history and to celebrate the courage of the survivors. She said, “In Judaism there’s a concept called ‘Tikkum Olam’ which means repairing the world.” After dinner she will discuss this and the Resistance during the Holocaust in her talk, "Amidah Young Holocaust Heroes."
MARCH 27 - SHABBAT DINNER: SPEAKER HOWARD STOFFER
Howard Stoffer, our resident Israel Affairs expert, will deliver his annual intriguing update on Israel’s current events. Every day brings new drama and suspense to this country’s politics and its foreign affairs.
MAY 3 – MOVIE: SCHOOL TIES
When an outstanding football player receives a scholarship to a prep school, he feels the pressure to hide the fact that he is Jewish. However, after becoming the “big man” on campus his secret is discovered. Set in the 1950’s, the movie sheds light on anti-semitism.
JUNE 6 - BEIT MIDRASH
Michael Massen will share his knowledge of Jewish Art in his after-lunch presentation.
