WELCOME TO THE NURSERY SCHOOL OF HABONIM
Dear Prospective Habonim Family:
Thank you for your interest in the Nursery School of Habonim.
Habonim is truly a unique and wonderful place. We are a conservative, egalitarian synagogue, founded by survivors and refugees from Germany. The Nursery School was founded in 1997 to ensure the continuation of the synagogue and to keep the memories on which it was built alive. Just as “Habonim” means “builders,” the Nursery School has played a major role in building the next generation at Habonim. In our comparatively short history, the Nursery School has seen tremendous growth as over the years more and more parents have enrolled their children in our school and have entrusted us with the care and development of their children.
|Staff and Teachers|
Very simply put, our School’s philosophy focuses on the individual child. Nursery School-aged children develop at very different rates and in different ways within a small age span. They have different interests, different natural abilities and areas that need encouragement and support, and it is our goal to find effective ways to nurture them in all of the ways that matter across all developmental areas: cognitive, language, physical, and social and emotional.
We want the children in our school to become relaxed learners who are willing to take risks and try new things. We want our children to become noticers of the world around them. We want children to make connections that are the building blocks for a lifetime of curiosity and growth. From the moment that children begin school at Habonim, they begin the process of learning through an integrated, hands-on curriculum that is rich, creative and fun!
Via the links at the top of the page, you can explore the different rooms, spaces and philosopy of the Nursery School at Habonim in more detail. Of course, I strongly encourage you to come take a tour -- for it is seeing the children and staff in action that will really give you a sense of what we are building here together.
I look forward to meeting your family!
