Classes for the 2018-2019 school year

Yellow Room
Early Explorers

Beginning in September, come with your 18-30 month old Toddler to EARLY EXPLORERS.  The class will be on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00 – 11:00 am, for a fun, nurturing playgroup experience that is a stepping stone for the preschool years.

Education in early childhood guides the way for success in school. Kids thrive when they are in a stimulating, enriching environment with supportive and caring individuals. Just as Habonim means “builders”, we have expanded our Early Explorers program. This class parallels a nursery school experience, allowing children to explore the world through their senses. This fun, nurturing experience is a stepping stone for the preschool years. The class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-11am. The program provides flexibility to meet the individual needs of the children and their families. Children will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities including art, music, story-telling, movement, the Jewish holidays and the joy of play and socialization. The design of the class addresses the emotional needs of our youngest students. We look forward to a year of exploration and growth.

Once children have turned two and have successfully separated from a parent or caregiver, this will become a drop off program. As always, separation will be approached with each family individually. If you have questions or would like your "Early Explorer" to attend for the 2018-2019 school year please use our Online Inquiry form by clicking here so we may discuss if it is appropriate for your child, answer any questions you may have, and provide you with a registration form. We will respond within 48 hours.

Purple & Orange Rooms

The Purple & Orange Rooms are our "Two's" rooms. These are our introductory nursery school classroom experiences. The children in these groups should be two years old by the time they enter school in September. The Orange Room meets Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 8:45 am to 12:00 noon. A Lunch Bunch Program will begin in January, from 12:00 noon to 12:30 pm, one day a week (based on the readiness of the child). The Purple Room will be same except it meets 5 days a week and will be for "Older Two's".

Blue Room

Blue RoomWhile some children enter our school in the Blue Room, this is the class for our Threes. In this class, children use their burgeoning skill sets toward language development, connecting ideas, and beginning peer collaboration, while we nurture their growing awareness of the wider world and work on building their confidence as learners and unique individuals.

The Blue Room meets five days per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:45am to 12:00pm. Starting in January, children in the Blue Room stay four afternoons each week for our Extended Day program: Monday through Thursday from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. Extended Day serves as a gradual link to a full day of school, which begins in our school in the Pre-K year. During Extended Day, the children eat lunch with their teachers and classmates, and work on some kind of special project, play fun thinking games, or continue work in-depth that was begun during the regular school day.

The Red Room

This is Habonim’s Pre-Kindergarten class. Children move from the Purple and Blue Rooms to the Red Room, where as four and five year olds, they prepare for the transition to a more academic setting, with increased focus on the basic concepts of language, literacy, math and science, while still having many opportunities to explore, play and develop their ever-growing independence.

Children in this room takes advantage of many features of the surrounding neighborhood, going on walks with their teachers and other Nursery School staff members to the nearby Fire Station, the Post Office, Lincoln Center, and Central Park; all of which provide rich linkage to classroom curriculum.

The Red Room meets five days per week: Monday to Thursday from 8:45am to 2:15pm, and Friday from 8:45am to 12:00pm, when the school day ends earlier for Shabbat.
